Of extreme interest and importance
are the following links to the National Radio and Television Broadcast
of Greece (ERT). These are clips from the series Eikosi Hronia
Epikaira 1947-1967 Eikosi Epikaira Hronia (Twenty Years of
Current News 1947-1967 Twenty Current Years). Epikaira (Current
News) were
clips of films about current events that were shown at the beginning
of films in theaters. This was a general practice that dated from the
early days of movie theaters in Greece, in the 1920s. ERT ran a fifteen-part
television series the objective of which was to show the discrepancies
between the official discourse projected by the state about current
events and the actual, on-the- ground reality. To this end Rena Theologidou,
the anchor of the series, showed both the official clips and interviewed
personalities who were active at the particular time so that the discrepancies
become apparent. The series started with the death of King Paul I of
Greece, on April 1, 1947 and ended with the year 1966-1967.
